Mental Health Association of Miami County

PROGRAM & SERVICE Highlights

The MHAMC sponsors workshops and training for both professionals and the general public. We collaborate with many local agencies and business to provide free Health Fairs throughout Miami County to promote education on mental illness topics and promote mental wellness.

If you would like to have the MHAMC participate in a health fair at your place of business, please call Karen Schultz, Executive Director @ 937-332-9293 or email:  mhamc@verizon.net

Bullying Prevention

Bullying is a problem that creates a climate of fear and is a problem for the entire community, not just the victims.  Research shows one-third of all school aged children have experienced some form of bullying. We offer programming to provide education and prevention for all ages:

  • Parents: "Bully-Proofing Your Kids"

  • Preschoolers:  "Learning to Use My Words"

  • Grade School & Middle School: "Bully-No-More" & "Friendship Day: Learning to Be a Better Friend"

  • High School: "Stopping the Violence"

Stress Management Education

Providing public education on the negative effects and management of stress through collaborative partnership with such agencies as YWCA Piqua and Health Partners of Miami County.

  • Stress Assessments

  • Information on the negative impact on the Mind-Body Connection

  • Information on Job Stress

Teddy Bear Patrol

The MHAMC provides teddy bears to local police and EMS agencies to distribute to children in crisis to provide them some comfort in their time of need.

Implemented in 1991, this supportive program has been successful in assisting rescue workers in making crisis experiences less frightening for children.
