Kettering

Look Good, Feel Better is a program designed for women with cancer undergoing chemo or radiation therapy treatment.  It helps cancer patients address the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.  A licensed cosmotologist provides skin care, hair, head covering and makeup tips to women undergoing cancer treatment.  These sessions can help women regain a sense of self confidence and control over their lives.  This program is held at various times during the year.  For more information, call the American Cancer Society at (937) 223-8521.

Advanced Breast Cancer (ABC) Group is one-on-one support for women with advanced or recurrent breast cancer.  Contact Kettering Medical Center at 395-8115 for information.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Family Group is a family support group for the adult survivors and families with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease and multiple myeloma.  First Thursday of each month, except for June and December, at 6:30 p.m., Kettering Memorial Hospital, Dining Room 1.  For more information, call 395-8115.

G.I.F.T. Down Syndrome Support Group:

Emergency Shelter for Homeless and Abused Persons :

Miami County:

Family to Family Course:

Sidney:  

"Growing Through Grief", a service of Wilson Hospice Care.  Classes are held on Tuesday afternoons and evenings in the Parlor at the St. Paul's United Church of Christ; 707 N. Ohio, Sidney.  Please use the back parking lot of the church and come in the south door. 8 weeks begins in September, January, March, and June.  Sessions are held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, or 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm.  Classes are free.

W.A.I.T. & C. - Why Abstinence is the Choice, in collaboration with Miami County Juvenile Court's Family Program, offers a parent/teen communication course called "Can We Talk?" geared toward helping families learn good communication kills while educating parents and teens alike on the dangers facing families today: drugs, alcohol, teen sex, tobacco, and abuse.  Parents and teens meet once a week separately for 8 weeks with the 9th week a group community service project.  This is a successful program for bringing about change in family relationships.  Call 440-5411 for more information.

Self Esteem:

Miami County:

"Fearfully and Wonderfully Made".  This is a video series with workbook covering self-esteem issues for the individual.  Thursdays 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. beginning September 23, 2004.  Call 667-4678 for information.  Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church.

Sexual Abuse:
